The dilution gene itself does not cause health problems in French Bulldogs. What matters far more is whether the breeding parents have been properly health-tested — for cardiac, eye, hip, and spine conditions common to the breed — and whether the breeder is selecting for temperament and structure rather than just chasing coat color.
